Training & Education
Helping people gain the confidence to make decisions about their own lives is an important part of our work. As is providing an environment in which they can belong, contribute & thrive. Education is more than formal schooling – that’s why our YMCA offers a range of education, skills-based training, placements and apprenticeship schemes
We support apprentices in many of our service areas. Working with a number of education providers in Hertfordshire we most frequently provide paid 14 month placements for apprentices studying Business Administration, Care and Leisure.
Y’z Up is a six week Employability & Personal Development project for young people aged 16-25 not in employment, education or training.
Our nine month STEP programme is available to our hostel residents, providing vocational training, work experience and paid employment within one of our service areas such as: Health & Wellbeing, Catering, Childcare, Youth Work, Chaplaincy Team, Maintenance or Housekeeping
Residents at our Welwyn Garden City Hostel are offered a wide range of interactive programmes to enhance their personal development and provide them with the skills they need to be able to live independently.
